An early type Charentais with round very light netted fruits. The ripe fruits weigh 0.7-.0.9 kg and have thick ,orange., sweet tasting flesh
Sow at the end of April under glass in pots. Keep at 20°C.
Grow in a cold greenhouse on a string, take off all side shoots up to 50 cm, then leave two side shoots. These two side shoots will develop a female flower at the first leave node. After pollination, cut off the rest of the side shoot. Cut off the main stem at 1 m. Wait until the fruits set and get close to ripening. In the meantime the main shoot will have redeveloped and can be allowed to grow a bit again - after which you can allow two side shoots again and repeat the process. In a normal season 4 melons can be expected, sometimes more.
